Fixed Indemnity Insurance Features

Feature-rich Health ProtectorGuard fixed indemnity insurance pays benefits when you need them

Also called hospital and doctor insurance or fee for service insurance, a fixed indemnity insurance plan pays you a set amount of money when you receive specific medical services.1 However, once you understand that, and you’ve decided a fixed indemnity plan makes sense as a part of your insurance coverage, you still face a question. What plan do you choose?

Health ProtectorGuard fixed indemnity plans, underwritten by Golden Rule Insurance Company, have enhanced features2 that can help give a financial boost after you face some of the most common health care costs you’re likely to see during the year.

For that unexpected hospital stay -- Hospitalization features

  • Unlimited inpatient hospital confinement and surgical benefits —You receive benefits no matter how long your hospital stay is or how many surgeries you face.3
  • Increasing benefits — For every year up to the fifth year you keep your fixed indemnity plan, your benefit for injury-related hospitalization increases 25%.2 That's more benefits available for you just for keeping the plan.
  • Not all surgeries are the same: surgical tiers — Unlike some fixed indemnity plans that pay a single surgical benefit, a Health ProtectorGuard indemnity plan recognizes some surgeries are more expensive and complicated than others. It pays more for some surgeries than for others and includes another benefit if an assistant surgeon is involved.
  • Intensive care/Critical care benefits — Intensive care and critical care unit benefits are paid IN ADDITION to the daily inpatient hospital confinement benefit. That’s more benefits paid for more serious hospitalizations with their added costs.

Don’t avoid your doctor — Doctor office and urgent care visit features

  • Doctor office/Urgent care visit rollover — Doesn’t it seem like some years you get sick or injured more, ending up at the doctor’s office more often? That’s why with Health ProtectorGuard fixed indemnity plans, you can keep and rollover unused doctor office/urgent care visit benefits from one year to the next (up to a maximum of five visits).2 Save those benefits for when you really need them.
  • Wellness/Preventive care visit benefits4 — Need an annual physical, a mammogram or immunization? Health ProtectorGuard pays a benefit when you visit the doctor to stay healthy, not just when you are sick.
  • Second surgical opinion benefit — Want to see another doctor to discuss a potential procedure? You get paid a benefit to help cover the cost of that consultation.

Save and stay with Health ProtectorGuard fixed indemnity insurance

  • No network restrictions, but access to network discounts — Go to any doctor or health care facility you want. You’ll still get your benefits. But if you use doctors or providers in the Multiplan Limited Benefit Plan network, you’ll have access to discounted rates, making the money you get from your fixed indemnity plan go further. (Note: If you have a major medical plan, you may need to stay with certain networks and providers to get the most coverage out of that plan. Be sure to take that into consideration.)
  • Prescription drug discount card with every plan — Get drug discounts of up to 50-75% off.5
  • 12-month premium rate guarantee, no deductibles, no application fees to pay — Your costs are controlled for the year, with no surprises that you have to pay before receiving your benefits. (Note: A $3.25 MultiPlan network access fee is included in addition to your premium each month.)
  • Renewable up to age 65 — In most cases, you can keep the added financial boost offered by the benefits of Health ProtectorGuard fixed indemnity insurance for as long as you need it.
